This morning, my work begins at First United Methodist Church in Birmingham (which is an incredible building and community center – more on that in a minute), for my client, Karma Yoga‘s, Spirit Baby Yoga class, which FOX 2 is filming. What an opportunity. What a day.
There is work that happens in my beautiful office, in the quiet of focus and inspiration and poetry of just being in the day.
And there is work that happens gloriously when you step out into the world and see what happens.
So many communities and people and brilliance coming together in front of me. This is the work we all get to do, if we only open our eyes.
What else does the day hold as it unfolds? Well of course I have one meeting scheduled after another – working with my staff, lunch with Dad (my best business advisor), meetings about client work and my conference later this month and a massage with Fiona (so important!) and then finally, reconnection with my loving husband late at night.
Of course, we make plans and God laughs. We think we know what lies ahead. We think we are in charge.
I am laughing as I type this.
It is the spirit of the universe that flows us into and out of our days, into and out of the work we are meant to do, the unique and meaningful contributions only we can make in this lifetime.
That’s what each day is about. Truly and completely, nothing more and nothing less.
The illusion of control is a funny one. We have only the work in front of us, taken and enveloped from a full heart. Once we do that, it takes us to our next landmark and our next meaningful moment and our next right relationship.
Everything makes sense and nothing makes sense. It’s when we stop living in the thinking mind that we make true progress.
When we can transcend to BEing in the moment and not even thinking about it as we do it, letting the words flow under our fingers as we type.
Speaking from the heart. Speaking to a heart. No judgment. Only perfection.
