My Next Idea: One Earth Writing

It’s all happening so fast. But that’s a good thing, right?

With the warp speed of an entrepreneur, which I most assuredly am, I’ve created a nonprofit that is taking off with leaps and shouts, and I am so excited.

OneEarthWriting_Logo_FinalOne Earth Writing is a dream-come-true for me. It’s my way of taking my talents and passions and helping make the world a more peaceful place. It’s my way of using my love of writing and words to connect with teens as they figure out who they are and who they want to be, and find the right words to define their identities – while they get to know others and realize we are all part of one human race.

Not divided. Not fearful of the other. Not waging war in future years because we are quaking in our boots in our own little enclaves, so afraid of what lurks beyond our borders.

This week, an essay of mine was published on www.MichiganRadio.org, under The Next Idea, and I was interviewed on Stateside about One Earth Writing. Listen to my interview with Cynthia Canty and read my essay here. Or here.

I share my passion and my vision for using writing as a way to find common ground between teens, so that as they grow into adults and become tomorrow’s leaders, they have distinct, real memories of meeting someone wholly different from them and finding shared values, shared passions, similarities.

I’d love for you to support this effort. You can volunteer your time, or encourage a teen you know to apply to become a One Earth Writing Ambassador. (Hint: we need BOYS! Lots of girls are applying, but we know boys have writing talent, too. Send them our way, please!)

And you can give. This effort is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and it’s my first foray into fundraising. So help me succeed! I’ll be sending out an appeal later this fall and hope to see your support.

If you love writing, if you seek peace in our future, if you want to make a difference in the world, if you want to lift up teens so that the world looks better tomorrow, so that we can guarantee a productive, healing future, please support One Earth Writing. Any amount will help. Here’s the link (right side of the page).

Stay tuned for more exciting details!
